To celebrate the Dance Day, on April 29, Ca.DA presents in Almada a program performed by young dancers from its school - Ca.DA Escola - under the guidance of teachers Maria Franco, Carla Albuquerque, Susana Rosendo and Raquel Tavares.
In anticipation, the Companhia de Dança de Almada itself will perform on April 22 at Cine-Teatro Avenida, in Castelo Branco. "A Quiet Moment", created by Bruno Duarte, brings to the stage a retelling of Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho", casting a contemporary eye, to this historical object.
Since 1982, this day has been celebrated by thousands of dancers from all over the world, with the purpose of attracting attention to the importance of the art of dance. The date was created by the International Dance Council - CID / UNESCO, which chose April 29 as the birth day of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810), a distinguished French dancer, choreographer and teacher.
In Portugal, since 1990, Companhia de Dança de Almada seeks to contribute to the dissemination and projection of dance, whether through the creation/production of contemporary dance performances, the organization and production of cultural events, dance teaching, and also and and also through promotion of multiple training and audience awareness actions.
