Companhia de Dança de Almada is preparing the second edition of the Itinerant Choreographic Laboratory project, scheduled to premiere at the Auditório Fernando Lopes-Graça, in Almada, on the 11th and 12th of June.
Conceived to provide the community with the experience of the direct contact with the process of artistic creation of a contemporary dance piece, the Itinerant Choreographic Laboratory was designed to benefit the artistic, social and pedagogical dimensions of the intervening associations, surrounding communities and the audience.
About “SCENA”, the new creation now in its premiere, the author Bruno Duarte reveals that it is “a work where the real memories of the dancers and the participants of the community, here also performers, around the theater as a physical space, practice and concept.” And he adds “In “SCENA”, the stage is no longer just a space where reality is suspended and assumes the role of a memory box, in a celebration of the farce and the artifice.”
The artistic team of Companhia de Dança de Almada, which has been working on this project for several weeks, was joined by a group of young people from the youth center Centro Juvenil Padre Amadeu Pinto and some students from Ca.DA Escola. Two interns from the Escola de Dança Ana Mangericão - EDAM also participate in the project.
This new creation succeeds“Dentro do Abraço”, also by Bruno Duarte, whose itinerant laboratories were held, between 2016 and 2018, twice in Almada, with the Associação de Solidariedade e Desenvolvimento do Laranjeiro - ASDL, Ca.DA Escola and students from the Almasénior municipal project; in Bragança, with the Conservatório de Música e Dança de Bragança; in Castro Verde, with the Associação de Respostas Terapêuticas - ART and members of the local community; in Estarreja, with Cerciesta - Cooperativa para a Educação e Reabilitação de Cidadãos Inadaptados de Estarreja and members of the community; in Goiânia (Brazil), with students from several schools in Goiás; and in Karlovac (Croatia), with the Center for Dance and Performing Arts F.R.E.E. D.A.N.C.E. and elements of the local community.
After its debut in Almada, Companhia de Dança de Almada is once again working on the project's itinerancy, in order to bring “SCENA” to the greatest number of participants and audiences.
