In this workshop, we will begin by exploring contemporary dance technique through several essential principles: the intrinsic relationship between the body and the floor; the constant articulation between levels; the investigation of efficiency and economy of movement — minimizing muscular effort by employing mechanical principles, spirals, and centrifugal force; the use of gravity and momentum as tools for projection and spatial progression; an organic flow interspersed with moments of staccato

Finally, we’ll have a strong emphasis on musicality and the exploration of individual movement through the use of different musical rhythms and styles, both set and improvised exercises, and varied dynamics within each activity.
