Companhia de Dança de Almada is a professional contemporary dance company, resident in Almada, Portugal, supported by the local Council and the Portuguese Ministry of Culture.
It started its activities in 1990, presenting over 600 performances, seen by around 80,000 spectators, in Portugal and abroad.
Since our creation we have invited national and foreign choreographers representing different tendencies in contemporary dance, producing over 50 creations by different authors.
We also support new talents in the creation and interpretation of dance, helping young choreographers to present their own productions and spreading their work all over the world.
Finally but not least, the Companhia de Dança de Almada is proud toorganize Quinzena de Dança de Almada – Contemporary Dance Festival.
Also participates in several events to promote the interchange between
choreographers and performers of different origins, develloping
partnerships such as with Teatrodanza Tiziana Arnaboldi (Switzerland),
Tala Dance Centre (Croatia), Silesian Dance Theatre (Poland) and Opus
Nigrum Dance Laboratory (Austria)
